This is among the darkest of the 'black' tomatoes that we've seen and one of the very best tasting tomatoes of any kind that we've sampled. Its flavor is exceptionally rich yet sweet and the essence of delicious summer tomato flavor. Medium to large, 8 to 12 oz. tomatoes are flattened round and smooth, without the cracking or blemishing that seems to plague some black tomatoes. They are dark purplish-brown on the outside with a deep brick-red interior. Indeterminate. 80 days.

This is the most truly purple tomato we know, not just pink-purple, but it is deep purple-burgundy. It is also uniquely shaped, extremely fluted and almost ruffled in appearance. This is a family heirloom passed on by Lettie Cantrell of Kentucky, who first got the seeds from a soldier returning home from Germany during World War II. Lettie grew this tomato since the 1940's and it was the only tomato she ever grew in her garden. Large, meaty fruit are about 1 lb. and are wonderful for fresh eating, slicing, or canning. OTV Brandywine is a strain of Brandywine that came from a natural cross between Yellow Brandywine and an unknown red tomato. 'OTV' stands for 'Off the Vine,' an heirloom tomato newsletter once published by Carolyn Male and Craig LeHoullier. These tomatoes are red, foliage is potato-leaved, and yield is often greater than that of regular Brandywine, especially since OTV Brandywine sets fruit more easily in warm weather. The name of this tomato is French for black pineapple and that is because it arose out of a planting of Pineapple Tomato in a Belgian garden. While its fruit is the same 1 to 1 1/2 lb. size as the Pineapple tomato, the color and flavor are totally different. The exterior is dark purple and green with pink-red splotches and a touch of yellow, while the inside is bright green streaked with pink. The hues bleed into one another reminding one of a piece of tie-dyed fabric. Flavor is special too, sweet yet rich and delicious. Expect large plants and heavy yields.  Indeterminate. 80 days.
