STM 2255 (Eagle 250) Hybrid Tomato
Wake up, America! This new tomato variety is something you will need to grow. STM 2255 (Eagle 250) hybrid brings an entirely new game to your garden or roadside stand.
Dr. David Wolff at Sakata America looked for characteristics that would give growers and gardeners improved yield and a fighting chance against disease. This tomato is adaptable to multiple locations and multiple seasons throughout the country.
Within Dr. Wolff’s breeding program, an Italian intern helped set up a taste panel to determine which tomatoes had the best flavor. And their judges agreed! STM 2255 has one of the best taste profiles among the current selections. While sugar content is not above 6%, the complex balance of acids and sugars brings you excellent taste, ranking above Tasti-Lee in multiple locations.
But that is not all. STM 2255 has vigorous vines that allow up to 6 or 9 weekly picks over the season, with many large and extra-large fruit 8-12 oz. The yield potential is excellent. The plant does not need to be pushed with fertilizer to have good yields.
The fantastic disease resistance package includes Verticillium Wilt, Alternaria Stem Canker, Grey Leaf Spot, Fusarium Wilt 1-2, and intermediate resistance to Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus and Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus.
After seeing this variety in trials, we simply called it Eagle 250 because it was flying high with many positive characteristics. You can order this as Eagle 250. Strong determinate plant habit. 73 Days.
