Bristol Hybrid Cucumber
Bristol hybrid is an American slicing cucumber, and one of the first cucumbers with intermediate resistance to downy mildew. Tom Kalb at North Dakota State University complimented the variety for earliness, productivity and reliability. Bristol is widely adapted and is grown from the Caribbean islands to North Dakota. The dark green fruit are 8 to 9 inches and crispy with good flavor.
This is a commercial variety and produces predominantly female flowers (gynoecious) and is mixed with 12% male pollinator flowers. This enhances home gardeners’ potential for increased yields. Also, intermediate resistance to Papaya ringspot virus, powdery mildew, and downy mildew. 54 days.
